Every year, in the UK alone, approximately half a million students complete an undergraduate degree. In the final year of their degree, when they are most skilled, nearly every one of those students does a substantial piece of advanced work, a research project, a production, a dissertation, a show etc, in collaboration with an expert supervisor. Unlike almost any other part of the degree, decisions about the nature and content of the work are typically within the control of the student and the supervisor.  What if 1 in 5 of those dissertations, shows, studies etc was related to environmental change?  That would be 100,000 pieces of environment related work and 100,000 empowered students per year.  At such a massive scale there is a real opportunity for impact.

The 1 in 5 project aims to focus more of the power and resources of universities onto the problem of environmental change.
